Saturday, Apr. 01, 2006 :: 5:34 p.m.

Last 5 hours of Pine Fest, and it's a RACE to the finish. Pine Fest 2006 was sponsored by Cheez-Its brand snack food and set to music by The Click Five. And when the buzzer goes off at 10:04 p.m. this evening, I will know my 76 hours were not wasted, but rather spent doing some good, quality pining. Cheers to that!

I'm a little tired and woozy at the moment.... My girls and I just went out for an ultra fancy brunch, and now I am so full of expensive food....

Found out last night that a girl I knew during high school (her father was the pastor of the church we were going to) is pregnant. After my initial reactions of "OMG that's so juicy!" and the schadenfreudian "She was 'popular' and I was not, and now I live it up in NYC and she's PREGNANT in FL," I began to feel really sorry for her. On the list of people who want babies, I'd imagine her somewhere below Dick Cheney. But because her father's a pastor, she's having a baby, keeping it, no doubt, and maybe even having to marry the father (will have to work the gossip mill for more info on that- we found out in the first place because her father sent a letter to the church, and we still know people there). But what's even worse than that is that she doesn't get to enjoy it. No one will come out and say, "Hey! You're having a baby! Congratulations, how exciting!" I imagine the whole "her life is ruined" thing will run through many minds, but really- babies are born all the time! Even people with no money and no support system scrape by, and I imagine she has at least a little of both. So here's to you, pregnant pastor's daughter- may you have the strength to tell everyone to fuck off so you can enjoy your life.
