Today, we went to a taping of "The View". I'm not really sure how I got tickets to "The View". I requested tickets for "Regis & Kelly" for July during my Mom's trip, and I think they sent me "View" tickets instead. Anyway, I figured that since we've got nothing else going on, we might as well go. We heard online that PARIS HILTON was going to be there. PARIS!!!! It was one of my life goals to see Paris in person!!! We get there, we check in, blah blah blah. We took our friend Mike, who skipped some audition his agent submitted him to to be there. Before the show, the pre-show comic is asking, OK, who skipped work to be there? Plenty of people. The comic heard a few stories, but Mike's story of skipping an audition was his favorite. He probably commiserated, being an artist himself and all. The taping starts. It's an all "Hot Topics" day (that means it's nothing but gabbing about current events). Whoopi was out, but the rest of the usual ladies were having a fun time gabbing about blah blah blah who cares. At one point during the commercial break, the pre-show comic tells Barbara Walters that there's a guy in the audience who skipped an audition to be there. This instantly captured the ladies' attention, far more than any of the current event stuff they had been talking about. They were all like, what? What? Boy are you crazy? "I wanted to see Paris and all you fine ladies". "Paris is here to work, baby, and YOU DON'T HAVE A JOB!" Oh, they were having a great time giving him a hard time. Back to the show, Paris comes out, they start talking to her about blah blah blah (unfortunately, we notice at this point that we're no longer on live TV- the President has pre-empted the rest of the live broadcast. The show keeps on filming as usual). Then there's a point where they tell her that there's a guy there for her who skipped an audition, and the pre-show comic brings the mike to Mike and he gets to TALK TO PARIS HILTON. That was the only point in the day where she put away her grown-up voice and pulled out the higher, cutesy voice we all know and love to say that she "really hoped he got the part when he went to audition again". What can I say, the whole thing was a dream come true. Oh, M took a few pictures of the day- look at how skinny Sherri Shepherd is! Her cute little legs. I got to ask her a question during the commercial break about how she enjoys her (hysterical) appearances on "30 Rock". She said she loves it, that Tracy is crazy, and that Tina Fey uses their two characters as a chance to write out all of her own sexual fantasies. Tina girl, you so nasty, she said. LOL, I said, LOL.
