Fun fact about me: I own ten "pashminas" a.k.a. shawls bought on the street for $5. I have black, red, lilac, hot pink, sky blue, royal purple, pastel green, leaf green, peacock green, and bright yellow. And now that I've pulled them out to review them, the evil Twinkie is sleeping on them! I used to consider myself a picky eater. I have worked hard over the past few years to open myself up to trying new foods, and I am pleased to report that I now consider myself in remission. I have gotten over my fear of the unknown. I will give almost anything a go- I went to a friend's house for lunch the other day, and she made me a bowl of polenta with broccoli rabe and blue cheese. Old me would have said, ewww, this smells weird, I'm going to pretend to eat it and just pick at it. New me said, how delightful, something new to try- and I did! And it was delightful! I ate the whole bowl. NYC provides one with endless opportunities to try new things- imagine if I had never tried a knish, or vodka sauce, or pastrami! I'm reading some wedding blogs where brides are having to order a pizza for the groom at the reception since he won't eat any of the entrees! What's that all about? That's just craziness, who turns down a steak or seafood dinner? Compared to those dudes, I'm freakin' Anthony Bourdain. I imagine the real Anthony Bourdain eats peanut butter, but we all have our burdens. Past :: Present :: Future |
