I've been rethinking my whole real estate obsession. Now that I'm the head of the council at church, I get pulled into a lot more church business. And 95% of it involves taking care of the building. Taking care of a building is hard work. Granted, this particular building was built in 1926, and has some things that require extra care (stained glass windows, a pipe organ, steeples), but even the regular stuff, like the roof and the floors, is exhausting. And expensive! Meanwhile, in my cozy little rental, I have an extra attentive landlord for all my property needs, and electricity is included in the rent (being that this is NYC, my rent is more than my parents' FL mortgage payment, but for NYC, it's a good deal). Who wants to own and be responsible for their own stuff? Not meeeeee. I made chicken liver pate for dinner tonight. I didn't think my cheap blender was going to be able to rise to the occasion, but it did! It was nearly perfect- a little less cognac, a little more cooking in the pan for the liver, and it shall be perfect. And best of all, M doesn't like pate, which means I don't have to pretend to feel bad about not wanting to share it with him. Past :: Present :: Future |
